The Northern Clans Empty The Northern Clans

Post by Silvy Dean Thu Sep 04, 2014 6:09 am

(To be considered a Clan Alpha/Pack Alpha you need at least 5+ in your group.)

The Lore of Fenrir's Children. (The Northern Clans)

Before Fenrir bit the hand of Odin,  he had many sons and daughters. They had spread across the lands as wolves often mistaken for dire wolves. The majority of them stayed to the mountains. After Fenrir bit the hand of Odin, many of Fenrir's first born were slaughtered in punishment. The few that remained escaped further into the mountain's depths, caves and valleys.

When man came to fight the frost giants, they mistook the wolves for guards and attempted to slaughter them down. All but one of Fenrir's children survived. Torr, son of Fenrir, grew with such hatred at the loss of his siblings and kin alike, that he cursed the humans. Turning them into half beast half man. The curse would travel down the line of every survivor. Every birth, bore a new kind of offspring. Some effected and driven into a blood rage by the full moon, while others could learn to control their shifting.

Eventually Torr grew fond of his own creations. Guiding them and teaching them the ways of Fenrir. The ways of the Hunt. When Torr fell, his children rose in such a violent fury...
    .
    .
Far in the Northern lands, beyond the trees deep and high within the mountains lived a primal race of man like beasts. Blood thirsty creatures that were slowly depleting the already sparse food source of the land. Fighting the frost giants and sending avalanches down below. Very little was known of them until the Frost Giants came down from the mountain to attack the chosen of Odin.

Leaving a path of destruction that lead down into the valleys where small villages were left in the wake of the war. When the Frost Giants were pushed back, their paths remained allowing these beasts travel down to a new food source.

The few humans and vikings left in the small villages did not stand a chance. Beasts that stood taller than them, that seemed to heal from their wounds quicker and head back to the battle field within hours or days. Screams would travel down on deaf ears as the rest of the races busied themselves with trying to rebuild and repopulate after the war. The first full moon after the attacks, more would come.. and then more. The army seeming to grow with each person that went missing.. until none remained in the far northern citadels.

For a while howls could be heard rolling through the lands. Though dismissed as casual wildlife or lost hounds. Beastly fights, that shook the old  fir and pine trees, would spark lore and campfire tales. Those who traveled to these villages would not return.. and, if they did, it was to claim all was right. That the people on the outskirts of the world were thriving on little to no resources at all.

These creatures would grow to become docile to a point.. worshiping the moon and the Nordic Gods. Split into several clans and creating rules and order among themselves. They never seemed to travel far from these villages. Becoming a thriving powerful community of shifters and developing skills to improve their battles. They followed old rituals to honor the Gods. There would be many an animal skull left upon the hunting grounds to show respect to the God of the hunt, Ullr.

The clans created were 9. The Elders, The Iron Jaw, The Shadow, The Ice, The Spiral, The Broken Fang,  The Stalker, The Bane and The Blood. Each clan to their own profession filled with shifters of nearly every type. https://twistedgenetics.forumotion.com/t14-the-northern-clans https://twistedgenetics.forumotion.com/f11-race-info

When the pale twins were born, Arianna and Aric, there were many rumors spread. Mostly that the female Alpha of The Iron Jaw had been unfaithful with the only other white pelt in the clan. There was a third white male born. Elders were called upon to explain how the three children had survived being born so close to a full moon, and The Elders confirmed that the pale twins were not related to the third white pelt born. The pale twins were touched by the moon, great things were in store for one. Arianna. However, during a ritual that involved marking Arianna, Isiru (The Iron Jaw Female Alpha) panicked and killed an Elder.  The rest of The Elders chose to strip her of her gift causing her to age rapidly and die by the time her children were 3 years of age.

Arianna was trained along side Aric and Eindride. The three white pelts excelled in battles. Though Arianna would prove to have a more dominant personality and stronger abilities than the two males. It was clear she would be an Alpha and would/could possibly be the next Alpha of The Iron Jaw Clan. As she became of age she started to become more and more alone. Her brother finding his mate and the other wolves afraid to befriend her she would have plenty of time to explore the Iron Jaw lands. Then she met him.

At first it was a battle between her and the unknown dark wolf that dared to challenge her on the edge of the Iron Jaw hunting grounds. But soon she found herself going back over and over again, arguing with him and eventually talking. Though he refused to give her his name, she had already surmised he was one of the shadow clan. Soon it would turn into love.

One night, Arianna's father Gaireth (Alpha of the Iron Jaw) spoke. The Alpha of the Shadow Clan had expressed interest in an alliance with the Iron Jaw. The condition, Arianna become his mate. This upset the pale twins greatly, as Aric felt the need to go with her regardless of if he would be welcomed in the shadow clan or not.. While Arianna was torn between her love of her clan, and the love of the dark male that continued to meet with her on the hunting grounds.

The Shadow Clan did not agree with the Alpha's decision to alliance themselves with the Iron Jaw. In fact they were outraged at the idea of him mating with the white pelt, especially when one had been chosen for him already. This caused a clash and sent the Alpha and his brother apart from their clan. When the dark wolf met with Arianna again upon the edge of the hunting grounds he would  bring his brother to introduce them and confess to Arianna that he was the Shadow Clan Alpha.

After meeting with Arianna, Gunnar took Annoth to a sacred ground to talk of his plans. He was going to leave the Shadow Clan and create a new one with Arianna as his mate. Though Annoth disagreed with his brother on all of it, he supported his love for Arianna and would choose to follow him into the new clan. Arianna would leave the Iron Jaw Clan shortly after. Followed by her brother and his mate. It was not long before all of the clans had heard of the 10th clan's creation. Anger would spread and they would become hunted.

Kurnin, a dark druid of the shadow clan; angered by Gunnar's choice to abandon not only the Shadow Clan but his daughter as his mate, took place as the Alpha.  He would send out massive hunting parties, not to capture but to kill the clan before they could even get established. Gunnar and Annoth's father sent out his own hunting party to find and warn them.. but he was to late. Gunnar would be cornered and killed. Annoth would disappear into a strange mist. Arianna would fight off a great deal, killing 9 wounding one and fleeing with the rest of her pack to the ships to try and escape their fates.

Arianna and the rest of the Frost Fang would soon disappear into the mists as well. Some would die, some would go missing.. Kurnin would continue his angered and fevered attempts to bring order to his clan. Turning to dark magic.. and ultimately destroying the land. By the time Arianna, Vida and Annoth escaped the mists, they were all that were left of the Frost Fang. Looking to rebuild. Shortly after, Annoth's father's hunting party found them. Convincing them to come back to the Northern Clans to speak with the Elders. By the time they all returned.. it was to late.

    https://twistedgenetics.forumotion.com/t42-devastated-shadow-lands-curse-of-kurnin#100

The land devastated and traps set with talisman and the dead everywhere. The closer they got to the main Shadow Clan village, the more obvious it was of where the darkness had come from. After a great battle.. and a few losses.. Arianna, Annoth, Vetis, Ludo and Vida found themselves spending the next 18 years searching the clan lands for those who might have survived, burying those who did not, along with Arianna's first offspring. Due to the physical damage from the fight with Kurnin, the baby was still born months later.

Finding a land run by a kin who was placed as King, they decided to settle. They would be there for a while, their clan building to the point of needing to move.. they moved to the free lands, though Arianna would continue to answer the call of the King. Annoth continuing his walks to try and restore the lands destroyed by Kurnin, driving himself mad with guilt that had he not left.. had he not encouraged Gunnar to be with Arianna; none of this would have happened, his first child would not have died.. Until he simply stopped returning. Leaving Arianna in a state of grieving.. as she felt she had failed her entire pack once again. The pack losing its faith, would split.. till all that was left was Arianna and her spirit walker Vida.

Until Eindride and Sunthor came into her lands, giving her hope that not all of the clans had met demise due to Kurnin's curse. That perhaps they had simply scattered to escape the evil that nearly destroyed the Northern Clans all together... and the King would call upon her once again for a great battle.

Later to find out, the two shadow born pack brothers had not left, but were captured by the remaining of the blood clan, a war was soon to break out. The blood tides rose with a deathly illness.

The Northern Clans Empty The Blood Clan

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:15 pm

The Blood Clan (Population: Scattered -Open for Alpha and others to join.-)

(Collection of all types of shifters -Lycan, Were:Wolf/Cat/Rat ect., Few Garou- but only red to brown pelts.)

Those who worship only on the blood moon. They were one of the more savage of the tribes. Continuing to butcher and sacrifice to their gods for the sake of becoming more powerful. Some seemed to have a power for controlling others through a blood rituals. They also had the ability to speak to the dead, giving them the nickname of ghost talkers.

The Blood Clan embraces life to its absolute fullest. They embrace passions and whims as firmly as they embrace tradition, so long as the former doesn't interfere with the latter. It's not unheard of for clan members to become easily entranced by an ideal that draws their passions. In that vein, some will take on a cause or belief and defend it with their lives. Not exactly the artistic type, when they aren't choosing their sacrifices, many clan members will express themselves via sparring - which is also an effective way to keep them spry in between rituals.

Sacrifices are determined through a series of matched fights. The pack member determined to be the weakest (and therefore least worthy to be within the pack) is then sacrificed in a ritual that involves placing the subject's de-boned limbs on separate altars that are then set afire. Internal organs are fermented in a special concoction created by the same ghost talker who is tasked with seeing the spirit of the sacrificed off, often someone related by blood. Meat from the torso is used for a special dinner following the sacrifice, and the bones taken from the body are crafted into various utensils and weapons so that the subject still serves the pack one way or another. Many concerned mothers and fathers will try to send off their weaker children to avoid casting them to this fate. Those parents, if caught, are punished severely for their lack of loyalty.

Of course, their revered ghost talkers are often the same pack members that are sacrificed, which increases their rarity. Unless one of these 'weak' pack members successfully escapes or is enormously lucky in their matches, they too are ended and sacrificed.

In order to become more renowned within the Blood Clan, some have posed as ghost talkers, but lacked the capability. While some have likely been successful in convincing their pack, when outed, this deception is punishable by death.

    Worshiped gods include:
    Máni (God of the Moon)
Ull (God of Winter, Hunting, Hand-to-Hand Combat)
    Magni (God of Strength)
    Vár (Goddess of Contract)

The Northern Clans Empty The Bane Clan

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:18 pm

The Bane Clan (Population scattered. Open for Alpha and others to join.)

(Collection of all types of shifters -Lycan, Were :Wolf/Cat/Rat etc., No Garou- and all pelts.)

    Worshiped gods include:
Loki (God of Trickery and Mischief)
    Váli (God of Revenge)
    Máni (God of the Moon)
    Tyr (God of War)

Known for their trickery and annoyance. Constantly trying to cause wars between the clans. They accept most pelts but usually stick to those who have fallen out of the shadow clan, because their skills can be helpful to cause disastrous trouble for other clans. Some of the Bane clan is horribly disfigured due to battles and fights. They are known for their dark hearts filled with hate due to being cast out by other clans.

Because many have a common ground coming from the Shadow Clan, a tight bond is often prevalent amongst the pack, causing them to be viciously protective of each other when push comes to shove - especially when one of their own is attacked by someone from an opposing clan. Of course, the Bane Clan isn't without its 'outsiders' - and these unfortunate few are occasionally the target for an occasional, albeit less severe, trick brought on by another clan member. But even these outcasts are protected when it's needed. Anyone who dares attack a member of the Bane Clan would be wise to be on guard for a deceit that would cause others to turn against him/her - even his/her own clan mates. They're a group that's not to be trifled with.

Another common past time and means of annoyance for the Bane Clan is sabotage, wherein they'll occasionally do things like drive animals from another clan's hunting grounds by destroying the nearby vegetation. Members of this clan are often not above even the most juvenile of tricks and pranks for a cheap thrill, including using illusions to frighten younger shifters. This of course is the most harmless thing they'll ever do.

Their most heinous acts are that of murder, often to turn one clan against another or 'fan the flames.' They particularly love to adopt another clan's behavior patterns for this to more perfectly frame them (e.g. brutally slaughtering someone with no apparent second thought about it to mimic the savagery of the Blood Clan).

The Northern Clans Empty The Shadow Clan

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:21 pm

The Shadow Clan (Population dwindled but few escaped. Alpha and others open to join.)

(Collection of all types of shifters -Lycan, Were :Wolf/Cat/Rat etc., Garou- Black to dark gray pelts only.)

    Worshiped gods include:
Loki (God of Trickery and Mischief)
    Váli (God of Revenge)
    Máni (God of the Moon)
    Tyr (God of War)
Ullr (God of Winter, Hunt, and Duel)
    Hoenir (God of Silence)
Hel (The tree of life, gateway to the 9 worlds)
    Jörð (Goddess of Earth)
    Nótt (The Goddess of Night)

The Shadow Clan, known for a mixture of Druid, spies, assassins and stalkers. They had become one of the many clans that demanded pure pelts to join only. Mostly full of those with dark gray to black fur. Some of their Druids having the ability to manipulate shadows and meld with them. Their Druids also have other abilities and understanding of herbs, but are better known for their shadow stalking.

Once a prominent clan torn by the abandonment of their Alpha when he chose to leave the clan and start anew with a Iron Jaw Clan female, this clan fell into turmoil. Kurnin, a Druid who secretly dealt in death magic and other dark forces, took over with promises of revenge and dominance. Convincing the angered clan to hunt down and kill the former pack leader and attempt to kill the pack he had created. The Frost Fang Clan. His dealings with the dark magics taking him far beyond that of the Blood Clan and effectively turning himself into a lich. He sacrificed the land and the Clan to build his power and reek havoc upon the lands.

He came to a untimely end when the Frost Fang Clan returned and destroyed him.. setting free billions of souls and renewing the land. The devastation would take years if not decades to recover the land to what it once was. Other clans being caught in the cross fire and sometimes being turned into minions and traps.. the land is still wrought with undead traps and talismans.

Druids often practice in balance with the earth Goddess, Jörð, but some delve into the shadow magic and other dark magics that are usually forbidden. They do this to worship and praise Nótt. Often if a Druid is caught doing such rituals they are warned by the Elders. Lest they be cast out of their clan to protect their pack. Sadly, Kurnin was to sneaky and more than just the Shadow Clan paid the price.

The Northern Clans Empty The Stalker Clan

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:22 pm

The Stalkers (Population: Scattered. Open for Alpha and others to join.)

(Collection of all types of shifters -Lycan, Were :Wolf/Cat/Rat etc., Garou- and all pelts.)

Known for their great hunting abilities they are most sought after by the weaker clans for food if a hunting ground has become rather bare, Stalkers will go out and chase prey from other lands into the weaker clan's territory.

The Stalkers are not cast out from their previous clans; they leave and join this group by choice. Some consider being worthy of joining the Stalkers an honor. Others look at it as an honor-less band of hunters. Regardless, every Stalker has one major factor in common: their passion is the hunt, in every sense of the word. Few ever take a permanent mate, so much as a 'conquest.'

And while some may view their group as lacking honor, the Stalkers will not accept pay to sabotage another clan for another's gain. They will only help a clan in need, albeit for the right price. Once the deed is done, they'll relinquish their run of the hunting grounds in question and move onto the next task.

Because of their impeccable skills, Stalkers are also excellent trackers - great at finding young-lings that have somehow become lost in the wilderness or even just wandered off on some misguided whim of adventure. Sometimes, a single Stalker (or a small party) will take on the task of finding missing clan members.

    Chosen Gods:
    Máni (God of the Moon)
    Vár (Goddess of Contract)
Ullr (God of Winter, Hunt, and Duel)

The Northern Clans Empty The Spiral Clan

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:23 pm

The Spiral Clan (Population: Scattered. Open for Alpha and others to join.)

(Collection of all types of shifters -Lycan, Were :Wolf/Cat/Rat etc., Garou- and all pelts.)

    Chosen Gods:
All are under protection of the great Wyrm. All of the Gods are considered the Wyrm's Children and are worshiped and respected by this Clan. (Rituals they perform usually include drugs and self mutilation followed by celebration and more drugs and dance.-Open to interpretation for the players of these shifters.-)

(Best example is the seer from History Channel's “Vikings”)
These shifters had a knack for chaos. Believing in the great wyrm, over the Gods, that needed to be kept in balance. This clan spends most of their time drugged out of their minds and partying most of the time. A conversation with one of these beasts could drive a sane person to question their own sanity.

Though it is said that they have a few seers among them. Often they are just hallucinating, sometimes their visions can come true. That is, if you can decipher what they are telling you. They tend to speak in riddles and are sometimes just annoying to be around.

Not well known for their ability to fight, they are often guarded by those of the Iron Jaw, the Stalker and the Shadow Clans.

The Northern Clans Empty The Broken Fang Clan

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:25 pm

The Broken Fang Clan (Population: Scattered. Open for Alpha and others to join.)

(Collection of all types of shifters -Lycan, Were :Wolf/Cat/Rat etc., No Garou- and all pelts.)

Full of dark magic users. Necromancers and other dark ritualistic magics. Blood, Spiral and Shadow Dark Druids usually end up here after a time. They have no fear of death, which makes them a brutal dangerous foe. Often committing suicide for the sake of some unknown glory. Easy to anger and insult. Temper will run high. Very few can live within this clan and still have any ounce of compassion for others.

With a fanatical devotion to their chosen avenue of dark magic, they'll do what they believe is necessary to defend their way of life from anything they perceive as a threat. Remaining family members of those who join this clan may as well count their lost kin as passed: the individual's mad desire to commit to their craft will cost them the bright spots of their personality and leave in its wake something that can easily be perceived as heartless and cruel.

Countless are the rituals of the Broken Fang, from small and intimate to massive clan ordeals that occasionally involve the offering of one's own life to occur. It isn't unheard of for mated pairs to be determined by a more established member of the clan for the pure sake of priming the offspring for a particular purpose. Once the child has safely been birthed, one half of the mated pair is often sacrificed.

    Chosen Gods:
Loki (God of Trickery and Mischief)
    Tyr (God of War)
Odin (Son of Borr, Grandson of Búri and Hárm)
    Váli (God of Revenge)

The Northern Clans Empty The Ice Clan

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:26 pm

The Ice Clan (Population-enslaved to the Frost Giants. Open for alpha and others to join. More than likely will be an NPC only clan on Skarvald.)

(Collection of all types of shifters -Lycan, Were :Wolf/Cat/Rat etc., No Garou- Only White pelts.)

    Chosen Gods:
Loki (Son of the Frost Giant)
    Máni (God of the Moon)
    Vár (Goddess of Contract)
(Any other Gods are worshiped in silence as they are under the watchful eye of the Frost Giants.)

To coin a phrase from GOT, “Winter is coming.” These shifters have been forced into slavery. Chosen for their white pelts and forced into fights to the death so that only the strong will breed. They are used as War beasts of the Frost Giants. This clan is not well known to the other clans, nor are they ever really seen. However, the Elders know of them and are trying to find a way to rescue their children from the Frost Giant's cages. Forced to stay in their shifted forms and always at the ready for battle. They more often than not, have chains and collars around their necks to remind them of their servitude.
(Also known as the Frost Claw Clan.)

The Northern Clans Empty The Elders

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:28 pm

The Elders. (Population questionable -Up to the sim owner/leads of the race.-)

Clans: Though each clan seems to have a leader/Alpha, they all obey respect and go to the Elders for guidance, for judgment and for clarity. The elders (lead/Admin/person you turn to for Event info/character creation/rules and so on.) Are the oldest of the beasts. They worship the oldest of the Gods.

    Elder's Chosen Gods-
Búri  The First God. (Borr's Father, Odin's Grandfather.)
Höðr (The blind God of winter)
    Máni (God of the Moon.)
Jörð (Goddess of Earth -Also a Giantess-)
    Nótt (The Goddess of Night.)
Odin (Son of Borr, Grandson of Búri and Hárm)
Vidar (God of the forest of revenge and of silence, Son of Odin and Giantess Grid.)
Elli (the Goddess of old age.)
    Vár (Goddess of contracts)
Yggdrasil (The ash tree. Hel. The tree of life between the 9 worlds. The wel of Urd.)

The Elders are brutal strong fighters that uphold the law of these savage beings. Often taking on the oldest of the clan leaders as body guards if not Dire wolves. Made up of the oldest of shifters (Lycan, Were: Wolf/Cat/Rat etc., Garou.) and pelts. (White, Black, Brown, Gray, Red etc.)

((Elders do not run the packs. Alphas can be overthrown. Elders are there to guide them when asked for help. Or to make a finale judgement if they are asked.))

The Northern Clans Empty The Frost Fang Clan

Post by Silvy Dean Fri Oct 24, 2014 11:36 pm

The Frost Fang Clan (Population: Four. Alpha taken. Open for others to join.)

(Collection of all types of shifters -Lycan, Were :Wolf/Cat/Rat etc., Garou- and all pelts.)

    Chosen Gods:
    All are respected and worshiped.

Once a small pack of fifteen, this clan was created by the former Alpha of the Shadow Clan and Daughter of the Iron Jaw Alpha. They held out their hand to any who wished to join them. After the death of the former Shadow Clan Alpha, Arianna was forced to fight and then take her pack from the Northern lands and lost all but two of her pack along the way. Some simply fell behind or went missing. Others died in a boat wreck or from some strange disease on the strange island.

After their escape from the Island Ariann and Annoth went further west then south in an attempt to start anew. Unknowing that a small group from the Shadow Clan was still hunting them. Vida not far behind them. When the Shadow clan arrived they pleaded for them to return to the Northern lands and face justice. Reunited with Vida along the way, but not fully knowing the devastation that awaited them.

Once back within the lands, death awaited. Following them to the Shadow Clan Village where they were surrounded by the trapped souls of the Shadow clan, and Kurnin's wrath. With Vida's new ability to speak to the dead and Annoth's Druid abilities, they defeated Kurnin.. but the land had already been through to much. After a short stay to perform the rituals of the dead, they head South once again, lost in the storm and deviated land, they finally reach the valley's below to find Skarvald.

Becoming a close friend with the King of Skarvald, Arianna would always answer his call. Meanwhile, what was left of her pack would move to the northern free lands to try and rebuild and heal after so much loss.

Arianna (Daughter of the Iron Jaw) - Alpha/Warrior
Annoth (Son of the Shadow) - Shadow Druid
Vida (Daughter of the Blood Moon) - Spirit walker/Garou
Vetis (Son of the Shadow) - Tracker
Ludo (Son of the Shadow) - Hunter
Nana (Daughter of the Blood moon) - Blood Druid
Achilles (Son of the Iron Jaw) -Warrior (MIA)
Eindride (Son of Ice and Iron) - Warrior
    Sunthor (Free Son) - Hunter/Warrior

The Iron Jaw Clan is a vibrant fair clan. Skilled in weapon making and combat. They known for their intricate artwork and a thriving rich community of shifters that worked well together to protect their lands. Song and mead is passed around during the celebrations among the entire village. Known to celebrate anything from the birth of a child to the death of an animal, as it is the great circle of life.

Great tournaments are held just before every full moon, the victor is usually rewarded wealth and a higher standing among the clan. The only sacrifices that are made are those during the full moon on the great hunt. The Goddess Jörð thanked for her gifts and a shrine built as per the contract made with  Vár in Máni's blessing.
